Fido was coming home with Terence from his usual play time session before dinner. And we were like, what’s going on? His left back leg was stained with blood! There was no sign of discomfort at all from Fido, walked and played as usual. This was the 2nd time he bled. The first time was for the removal of balls……
After an extensive examination (thanks to our usual paw-examine-routines, he was totally sitting still,) I found a horizontal cut right below his middle nail. As if he tried flipping someone off during his daily outing today and tripped over while his nail was still pointing outward, and some sharp edge of a stone scraped side way through his paw pad.
So we looked up my reference book and I found a page on how to treat minor wound. Fido’s foot was then rinsed, padded dried, and the wound was padded with antiseptic pad.
That was Tuesday night and an appointment was not available until earlier today, Thursday morning. Luckily there was no infection, and nothing was stuck in the cut. The vet visit was quite comforting, Fido just had to be bandaged up, and we were ready to leave.
Since the cut was quite minor, (and the whole vet visit was probably for our sanity,) Fido was allowed to go out play as long as the bandage is kept dry. And of course knowing how naughty he is, he totally went through some wet grass and dirt……
No need to say, this was our first time bandaging something up. It was quite a scrambled event, at least to me; it was quite confusing what goes on first and what goes on top of what…..
At least the end product wasn’t too shabby! You can still see the form of Fido’s paw….
Sunday, Fifi, you will be back to your normal 4 furry feet!
